Nowadays, shared maternity is a reality, thanks to assisted reproduction. If a same sex female couple wish to make their dreams of becoming mothers come true, they only need to visit a trusted fertility centre to get all the information they need about the options available. At Ovoclinic, as a LGBTQ friendly assisted reproduction centre, in addition to conventional treatments such as IVF (in vitro fertilisation) we offer completely personalized treatments for all patients (single mums, mum and dad, and two mums) with added assurance in our Pregnancy and Live Birth Guarantee Plans (IVF with own eggs, donor egg IVF, mixed program and mixed plus program) with two options: pregnancy week 12 guarantee or live birth guarantee.
Ovoclinic is the only clinic that doesn’t have a limit to the number of tries (embryo transfers) during the Pregnancy Guarantee Program. If you don’t achieve the desired result in the first cycle, another cycle will be performed at no extra cost. During the period of the program, couples can experience the peace of mind and security that their treatment will be successful. In the event that the desired pregnancy is not achieved, the whole amount of the program will be returned.
The medical team at Ovoclinic has put together some of the most frequently asked questions from lesbian couples to answer all your queries. If you would like know more about these plans… keep reading!
CAN A SAME SEX FEMALE COUPLE CHOOSE ANY OF THE PREGNANCY GUARANTEE PLANS?
Yes, a couple of two women can select any of our guarantee programs. In the in vitro fertilisation program with co IVF, own eggs are used (from one of the women, under advice from the medical direction) along with donor sperm. In the event that egg quality in both women is not sufficient, they can opt for the donor egg program, mixed, or mixed plus. Donor egg IVF is similar to regular IVF, except the fertilisation is carried out with both eggs and sperm from anonymous donors.
ARE THERE ANY PREREQUISITES FOR THESE PERSONALISED TREATMENTS?
As with any assisted reproductive process, an initial medical evaluation is necessary, with the aim of drawing up a personalised treatment plan for each patient. The minimum prerequisite to be able to undergo a treatment of this type is that neither of the women have an illness, disease, or severe fertility problem, to be able to start the Pregnancy Guarantee Program.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IN VITRO FERTILISATION AND AN IVF GUARANTEE?
IVF-ICSI (the union of an egg and sperm in the laboratory) is an assisted reproduction cycle with a set time frame. In IVF with Pregnancy Guarantee, the patient can have all the IVF cycles that are necessary until the positive beta-hCG is achieved. Furthermore, if the patient doesn’t get pregnant within the two years of the plan, the money paid is returned. In contrast in a standard IVF cycle, there is only one attempt and no money back if it is unsuccessful.
WHAT DO THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE?
All of the Pregnancy and Live Birth Programs include a free medical evaluation and personalised treatment plan, all of the necessary complementary techniques (time lapse, fertile chip, assisted hatching, ICSI), and procedures such as the freezing of extra embryos, beta-hCG pregnancy test and first pregnancy ultrasound, among the many other advantages. HOW IS THE IDEAL DONOR SELECTED IN THE DONOR EGG IVF GUARANTEE?
Ovoclinic collaborates with Ovobank, Europe’s first egg bank, with a large database of donors and no waiting lists to find the donor who most resembles the patient. We have a department dedicated to matching, both phenotypic and genetic, so that the donor looks like the mother who would donate the eggs, and is genetically compatible with the woman who will carry the pregnancy. Ovoclinic donors have to pass a rigorous process of analyses, psychological tests and genetic studies to rule out any recessive genetic diseases, to guarantee the general good health of the donor.
